Get Your Guts In Gear Scholarship Announcement

Get Your Guts in Gear, Inc. (GYGIG) is an independent, national, not-for-profit organization that raises awareness of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and related conditions through multi-day cycling events that benefit and support inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) organizations and patient advocacy groups. GYGIG creates and produces well-organized, participant-centric events so that participants feel empowered, accomplished, and part of a greater community. Since creating and producing its first Ride in 2004, GYGIG has raised over $1.25 million in proceeds to support empowerment, research, awareness, and advocacy efforts for people with IBD and ostomies.

GYGIG is pleased to announce the first $5,000 GYGIG scholarship for individuals affected by IBD. Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited school and have at least a 2.8 Grade Point Average. This scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient to offset tuition, books or other education-related expenses.

For Consideration: Write up to a 1,000 word essay explaining how you heard about the GYGIG scholarship, the impact that IBD has had on your life, what contributions you have made or would like to make to the IBD community, and how the GYGIG scholarship will support your future endeavors.

The recipient of the GYGIG scholarship is strongly encouraged to become a part of the GYGIG community and must be available for GYGIG promotion opportunities for 2 years.

Application Deadline: Your application must be received by July 10, 2010. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
